Our Story…

Sam (Salvatore) Garanzini and Alapaki Yee are Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapists, and the co-founders of the Gay Couples Institute, which now delivers couples therapy to over 200 couples per year across the United States. Sam is also an adjunct professor in the Counseling Psychology Department at the University of San Francisco.

Alapaki Yee is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has treated several hundred couples in over a decade of clinical practice. He also acts as the Clinical Director for the Advanced Couples Therapy Mastermind Group.

Last year, Sam, Alapaki, and John and Julie Gottman published the first and only outcome study of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, which happened to show the success of the Method with gay and lesbian couples.

“I’ve been to a lot of training where you learn theory and ideas, but what I really received here was a concrete plan for implementation. I know exactly what to do this coming weekend to develop my business, and the weekend after that, and onward.”
